Inspiron 5000 No sound when plugged into docking station and monitor

My Inspiron 15 5000 is hooked up to a Docking Station USB 3.0, which is hooked up to a U2410 Monitor via HDMI cable. I am not getting sound from the laptop speakers when I have the Docking Station hooked up. I tried what has been already mentioned. Like going to the control panel, sound, speakers, default. The Dell USB Audio is checked and showing sound in the bars, but no sound is coming out of the speakers in the laptop. Please help.

THANK YOU, Jim G.

If USB Audio is selected, that would be the audio output jack built into the dock. You need to choose the Speakers/Headphones output as the default device to get audio from the built-in speakers.

If the above post doesn’t solve the issue, please post a screenshot of your Control Panel > Sound > Playback tab while the dock is connected. The Snipping Tool application built into Windows is a useful tool for this purpose, and you’ll find the option to add an attachment to forum posts here by clicking “Use rich formatting”, which will reveal far more buttons.
