Inspiron 5520-15R
the SATA connection Header (interposer - where the hd connects) is broken, does anyone know the part number for the replacement

It won't be available as a separate part -- you will either need to salvage one from an otherwise bad mainboard, and transfer it, or replace the mainboard.

not sure thats correct, have seen other transponders available for other Inspiron laptops, just not sure if they (DMR9J) will fit/work on the 5520.

Some systems use an easily removeable interposer to connect the drive - this one doesn't. The SATA socket is attached to the mainboard - it is not a separate part.
That part you list is for an older N-series Inspiron - it will not work with yours.

that was confirmed to me by the seller, was able to remove the broken piece, and just have the 2 ends, held onto the MB by 2 screws, if I cant find a replacement. plan B is a dvdrom frame with a SATA HD bay (ebay), swapping the current dvd drive, waiting for confirmation that it fits/5520 and can be a boot drive, tks for your info.
