Inspiron 6400 T5300: Memory stick USB freezes the laptop when inserted?

Hi,

I have found I need to update/re-install these drivers:

- Install the Dell notebook system software.

- Install the chipset driver.

- Install at least XP SP1 (preferably SP3).

1). Is this correct?

2). If so, how do I do this, please? What versions should I use?

3). If I already have SP3 can I avoid re-loading it (Hopefully)??

Thx,

Pac

Hi Pac,

Welcome to the Community,

Installing these drivers should help to fix the issue.

If your system is running with Windows XP (Service Pack 3) use this link below  to download and install Notebook System Software and Chipset Driver :

Notebook System Software: lt.dell.com/.../lt.aspx

Chipset: lt.dell.com/.../lt.aspx

Note:Restart the system after installing Notebook system software and then install the Chipset driver.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi Roshan,

Unfortunately, I held my breath and plugged the memory stick in and ..... the laptop froze, just as before!

What now?!? (I feel so helpless not being able to plug anything in to the laptop, I can't backup to anything as I don't have blue-tooth either).

Hi Pac,

I would suggest you to clean reinstall Windows and reinstall the drivers in the order as given in this link below:
