Inspiron 7720 SE - cannot upgrade bios
Hi,
I have two issues with an Inspiron 17R SE 7720, which I think may be related. Current BIOS is A13.
1. The Nvidia card is not detected (as per this thread). A BIOS upgrade to A16 apparently can solve this.
However, when I go to upgrade the BIOS (any version), I get BSOD and this error
DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION
TdkLib.sys TdkLib.sys+d67
ntkrnlpa.exe+debfc ntkrnlpa.exe+336f03
2. ntkrnlpa is also causing BSOD and restarts the machine every hour or so.
I'm wondering has anyone encountered the BIOS issue?
Running W7 Ultimate 32bit.

Hi,
If anyone else encounters this, it is fixable by doing the following
0. copy the bios update to the C: drive root
1. Boot from USB or DVD,
2. Launch Startup Repair
3. When that doesn't work, you are given the option to choose advanced options
4. Choose command line
5. Run 7720A16.exe
6. Let it flash BIOS and reboot
Graphics card should be visible and ntkrnlpa BSODs should not re-occur
