Inspiron E1705 doesn't boot, hangs up

Hello,

I have an Inspiron E1705 that won't boot.  I can get into BIOS and make changes, but that's as far as I can get.  By pressing 'F12' at startup I can access the boot order menu and enter diagnostics.  I get to the RTC test and get error code '1000-0232 The RTC did not generate periodic ticks' but folks, I have googled the heck out of that error code and I can't find any info at all.  Can anyone provide some help here other than telling me I need a new motherboard (which I realize I probably do).
