Inspiron Heating Problem
Hello,
I own an Insprion 1525, which I bought in April 2008. I noticed that it heats up quite a bit.. but lately it has becoming more frequent. I find it heats up the most (the fan starts running like crazy and is noisy) when I have the battery charger plugged in. When I take it out, it seems fine (the laptop is cool and the fans are quiet).
I am not tech savvy, but does anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be or solutions for it?
Thanks

Hi jayla1102,
I would like to know the OS your using.
You could remove all startup programs that are unneccessary. Also the services that start automatically, could be put on manual and start them only when required or disable them if not required at all.
Run a virus and spyware scan, I would suggest Bitdefender antivirus (http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Downloads/) and Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html).
Do system tune up and clean up, you can use Advance Systemcare (http://www.iobit.com/).
You could buy a usb chill pad to cool your laptop.
Hope this helps.

I have the same heating problem with my 1521 laptop. You recommended ... "Also the services that start automatically, could be put on manual and start them only when required or disable them if not required at all." Is there a resource you could recommend to find out what services to disable or set to manual? I'm using Vista and have AV and AS apps.

In the search, type services, click on services. Right click on the service, click properties. In the startup type, you can specify automatic or manual or disabled. Also you can start and stop services. Be careful since some services effect the stabilty of the system. Create a restore point before doing so.

My Inspiron 1000 does the same exact thing!! When it is plugged in it is really loud and heats up. Eventually it would no longer hold a charge and now (3 years from purchase) it does not work at all and i am looking at spending big bucks to fix it. So, when you find a good solution to this problem will you please email me at < ADMIN NOTE: Email removed per privacy policy > THANKS!!! :emotion-2:
