Inspiron Mini 1012 - Max Memory Supported?

Hello Fellow Inspiron Mini 1012 Users:

I notice that my Dell Support Centre software reports that my 1012 can support 8 GB of memory. But when I contacted Dell Support via Live Chat, they tell me the max memory supported is 2 GB which is what I currently have.

Anybody out there using greater then 2 GB in their 1012? Would love to hear from you.

Cheers,

bhoffe

In the 1012, it's the Atom processor is what controls the maximum amount of memory, not the NM10 chipset.
The N450 (and 470), which is what the 1012 has, is limited to 2GB.

See www.intel.com/.../atom-n400-vol-1-datasheet-.pdf section 1.2.1.

Thanx Bay Wolf. But just wondering why the Dell Support software reports the contrary?

I have had the same experience with Inspiron 3000 series.  Supposedly, it only supports 4GB, but I upgraded successfully to 8GB.

If you try this with your Inspiron Mini, please post here, because I am looking to upgrade one to 4GB, if possible.
