Inspiron laptop power button: LED backlight?

I have a new Inspiron 5758 laptop. When I press the power button on it, the power button does not light, even though there is a small translucent stripe on it designed to show the light from an LED behind it.

At work we have some new Latitude 15 laptops, and their power buttons light up when pressed.

A person at Dell tech support told me the Inspiron power buttons do not light up when pressed; the only LED on the system is one at the front on the lower half of the case that serves as a combination charging and disk activity indicator.

Did the tech support person give me accurate information?
