Every-so-often, a group of people get together to make a difference by helping folks with computer problems. This thread exemplifies that.
Alas, I am too late for any help. I have been without sound for two years...too bad for me, huh?
I have this great Dell Inspiron E1705 with no sound. If I ever have an opportunity to get a new Dell machine again, it will not have ANY Sigmatel drivers in it, period. What nonsense.
My trusty workhorse, the Inspiron 1000 is still going strong, with sound, too.
Sure hope this thread sticks around. Alot of useful trial & error...and folks helping other folks...the way it should be.
Check and see what other services are running by opening Windows Task Manager, click on the Processes Tab and then on CPU twice. This will tell you what process is hogging the CPU. (Assuming you are not using a BlueTooth keyboard?)
