Installing mSATA card on Inspiron 15R special edition (7520)

Hey

I have inspiron 15r se with 1TB HDD.

I would like to add a mSATA card to my system to be able to use IRST.

Is it possible now?

I am skeptic because I have read online that systems which were not shipped with 32 GB mSATA card, doesn't have mSATA port for later installation.

When I purchased the system at that time dell had the option for adding 32 GB mSATA card in the customization section, but now dell has removed the whole customization section from the website. And in the pre-configured models, there is no option for mSATA card.

Please clear this doubt and if possible post the pictures of the system and the daughter board where mSATA card can be installed.

If you need any further details regarding my system configuration, feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance

Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 15R SE (7520) and I'd want to buy a SSD mSATA but I don't know if I have a mSATA port. How can I know if I have this port in my laptop?

Thank you, Pedro.

Unless you already have an mSATA drive, you do not have an mSATA port.

Unless your system came with a factory-installed mSATA drive, you do not have the mSATA daughterboard.

I would like you to check my Dell 7520 SE tag # to see if it can have mSata.  How do I send you a private message?

17" systems have the mSATA socket as standard.

Only if you ordered the system with an mSATA drive on a 15" system will the port be included.  15" systems ordered without the mSATA drive do not have the socket.

Did anyone successfully add a larger mSATA drive, other than the approved 4NG44 or 5DH89?

I would like to have at least 128GB as system drive.

yes. I have a 256GB drive.  Now, I'd like to upgrade to a 512GB drive but I also don't want to deal with opening up the computer again.  Such a pain in the ***.

The best way you have to check that is calling or chatting with DELL support with your service tag. Other way is entering your ST and checking original configuration of your laptop. If it says part N7JHH then you have it, if it says MRDMM then you don't but I'm not sure if it is so clear under that option. Greetings

I'm sending you a friend request so you can send me the ST and I will check it for you.
