Integrated Camera not working

Hello, I purchased an Alienware M17x this January and it has been giving me quite a few troubles. This time it will not recognize the integrated camera at all, has been like that for a couple days and restarting the laptop did not help. I cant seem to find the drivers anywhere in the website or my laptop, so any help would be really appreciated.

Hi AikoSubhi,

I am sorry about the situation; please check if the webcam is detected in device manager, follow the steps.

Start > in search box type in device manager > under the imaging device > check if the webcam is detected.

You can install the webcam central software using the link below.

In case the issue persists use the link below to run the Dell PC diagnostics on webcam, click on symptom, select webcam and run the diagnostics.

Thanks for your reply, however none of the options worked. There is no Imaging Device section in the Device Manager, even after installing the driver. When opening the Dell Webcam Central it says "please plug in a supported device". After running the Dell PC diagnostics on webcam, I got this message:

Good news, no errors were found during the diagnostic scan. Please scroll down to review your diagnostic results and suggestions for improving the performance of your system.

However, it only tested the microphone and there is absolutely no information about the webcam.

Any other ideas? I really need to fix this problem ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Please reseat the webcam cable referring to the user manual in the link below.

In this link punch in the sytem service tag or express service code and select the service manual or owner’s manual. Once the webcam cable is reseated, check if the webcam is detected in device manager.
