I've very recently purchased the above laptop and the keys seem to work intermitantly. At first I thought it was something I had pressed to purposefully turn them off, but when going through Dell's online support I found they worked and not worked, also I still have not had a response from Dell. So I thought I would try the forum, has this happened to others and if so how did they resolve it?
Most likely a mechanical problem because of the problem keys being in a group. Contact Dell for a replacement. If not under warranty, get a replacement on e-Bay or from some other third party supplier. Cost is low.
Thanks, I've looked at a number of forums and it appears it is a common problem on Dell's and a number of solutions have been suggested, a loose connection seems most likely as the faulty keys work when I pess down on the plastic between the touch pad and he space bar?!
That's it. Get it replaced. Life is too short to take apart the KB and fix its internal pieces. Done that.
