Inspiron 15 5000 laptop was purchased late in 2015 (via Amazon) as a Christmas gift. The keyboard began acting strange a few weeks ago - some keys would not work, then the problem would go away. Now, however, the entire 4 left columns of keys (Q thru V) have stopped working at all. The laptop functions fine with a USB keyboard plugged in so I assume the fault is in the laptop keyboard itself. Can you assist?
Thanks for the reply, but I'm afraid it didn't help. I followed the instructions (some of which had already been done) but the problem remains. It is Win10, but the problem seems top be more with the keyboard itself. The entire left side of the letter keys is not working. I'm thinking service is needed. I guess that is my next step.
Please run diagnostic tool to scan for any possible hardware issues on the system.
1. Power off the computer
2. Power on system, quickly start tapping the F12 key continuously. You should be in the Diagnostic screen. After quick tests, please full tests as well. Report back any error code.
If there isn't any error code then I'd suggest trying some of the steps in the link below:
