[L501x] USB 3.0 controller turns off
Hi, I've got my XPS 15 exactly week ago, it's a great piece of hardware, but I have one problem with it: USB 3.0 controller turns off shortly after being turned on/waked up. It only happens when it is turned off/asleep for half an hour or longer.
Only devices that I keep connected to one of USB 3.0 ports are Microsoft Wireless Desktop 3000 usb dongle or some a4tech mouse. I'm still on factory installed Windows 7 Home Premium, already tried reinstalling drivers, it didn't changed anything.
So, some time (varies from couple minutes to over an hour) after turning it on/waking it up devices connected to simply stop working, there is no sound or text notification from windows. In Device Manager "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller" & "Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Root Hub" are still visible, but they disappear after manual refresh.
Only way to bring them back is to fully reboot computer or put it to sleep, wake it up and manually refresh devices list. After that there is no problem until next time I leave it turned of/asleep for some time.
Sorry for my English and I hope that what I wrote makes any sense =)

I have the same problem. Just my USB 3 sockets fail even after a full shut down. I have two external drives fitted now as I thought it was the first hard drive, but my second hard drive fails too. USB shows it has just failed. I have to change the USB 3 input sockets and they restart ok. May restart ok if they are running when you shut down, but then fail after 20 minutes or so.
It is bound to be software but what.
