L701X BIOS flashing without battery

Hi guys,

I have a L701x with a non genuine charger, so I can't charge my battery (the bigger original one from Dell for this laptop). I need to update the bios to the A10 release, but it can't be done, cause the bios app tells me that I need to have >10% of battery charged.

I've tried a lot of options to bypass battery check, but without success.

Can anyone please help me in updating bios without battery check?

Thanks in advance for the reply!

My L701x is the one with discrete GPU (nVidia 455m), so it needs FOR SURE the 150w version.

Anyone knows what the exact number of the genuine 150w adapter for L701x? Thanks!

Needs a PA4E adapter.

I've asked in a previous thread what's the genuine DELL adapter for L701x, but unfortunately no one answered to this.

I'd like to buy the genuine one because I know that DELL adapters have a pin that is needed to do a sort of "genuine check"

You don't want to do this -- there's a real risk of a system board bricked if the power fails during the flash.

Connect an OEM Dell adapter (or take the system to a shop that has one and have them flash the BIOS).
