Laptop Batter: Plugged In, Charging but 0% Available

I bought a new battery for my N5010 Inspiron laptop.

After running powercfg -energy, I found following info.

Battery:Battery Information
Battery ID 1727SamsungDELL 7XFJJ05
Manufacturer Samsung
Serial Number 1727
Chemistry LION
Long Term 1
Design Capacity 48840
Last Full Charge 48696

This essentially means battery is fine.

Dell Battery meter detects Battery ID as well.

I have tried uninstalling battery driver in device manager and it does not work.

I am not able to try solution with BIOS update because battery level is below 10%.

How do i resolve this.

Hi,

As per the symptoms you mentioned, the issue could be the charging port or the charger as well..

Have you tired a different battery or different charger or these charger or battery on different machines??

What does the adapter status show in BIOS??

Hello, Thanks for replying.

What should I look for adapter status in BIOS? Current it states Adapter type: 65W.

I haven't tried this battery on other laptops. I am not sure how I can do that actually, I only have one laptop!

I have now tried with different adapter as well and still the battery does not charge up.

I have tried with different portable Linux OS and there is no charging.

Many Thanks for your reply. On battery icon, it currently shows "plugged in, charging, 0%".

Status does not change when I wiggle the charger holding.

Unfortunately laptop is not under warranty.

The battery seems to be absolutely fine.

If you wiggle the charger holding near to the laptop does it changes the status on the bottom right corner.

On the battery icon if you hover the mouse , doesit say plugged in charging or plugged in not charging??

Do let us know if the machine is under warranty, will get the system repaired.

The battery that you purchased is that a brand new or a refurbished ??
If brand new , then i would request you to contact the Dell India Technical support and request for a quote to get the charging port replaced.

If refurbished, then please try with another battery.
