Laptop Battery
I am on my second battery in two years (Inspiron B130) and now the second battery is no longer charging. I don't want another battery and am happy to use it as a desktop but the laptop will not power up due to the discharged battery. How can I get around this?

I am assuming that the LT will not power up while plugged in, with battery installed? If so, consider that a LT battery is like your tonsils; once it goes bad, remove it!
Your LT will run fine with no battery installed. If you went for another battery, consider a different capacity that still fits yor machine. Ther may have been a bad batch; should last a few years.

If the notebook won't power on with the battery removed, then the mainboard is bad - not just/the battery.

husky could be correct; but if the LT will not power up with battery removed, the first thing I would check is the power cord/ converter; the second is the power jack where the cord plugs into the back of the LT.

I am told that if you use the laptop with the battery in and the AC plugged in all the time, it drains the battery within the first year. I think when the AC is plugged in, the battery should be depleted and popped out. Then before it's used, it has to be charged like 24 hours to get 4 hours of computer time. Are you now unplugging it to drain the battery once in a while? I know nothing about this and am trying to get some tips on how to keep my new battery charged or how to store it when I'm plugged in, etc. HELP!!!
