Laptop Screen Goes Pixely When Idle or Closed

An image of it: https://imgur.com/GE3IBMW

Whenever my laptop goes idle or I close the lid, when I boot it up again, it shows this. When I hard reset the laptop it goes away, but it's still really annoying and I'd rather not have to hard reset it that often. The little box on the screen is my mouse, btw.

My laptop is pretty new, less than a year old. It's an Inspiron.

Any ideas how to fix?

I'm having the exact same problem and I bought my Inspiron 15 7000 in August.

It's not a permanent fix, but you want to turn off sleep mode. Just go to power & sleep settings and set every option under Sleep to Never. If you close your laptop lid a lot you'll want to go into additional power settings, choose what closing the lid does, then change it from Sleep to Do Nothing.

Hopefully someone has an answer as to why this happens. I mean, my only guess could be the graphics card, but as I said, my laptop is practically brand new.

UPDATE: It's fixed!

I just had to update the bios. That's it.

Here's a video that helped me out

Confirm that *this* problem is solved by installing the BIOS update.
