Laptop XPS crashes

After 5 years of use, my XPS laptop is now crashing fairly regularly.  Any thoughts on the reason?

Could be overheating - if it is, do a thorough cleanup inside and replace the thermal pad between the heatsink and CPU and GPU.

Could also be a dying hard drive -- F12 at powerup, boot to the Dell diagnostics and run an extended test on the hard drive.

Hello,

Is the machine overheating?

When you say crashing, do you mean it shuts down or does it bluescreen or just freezes ??

As suggested do run hard drive diagnostics, and if they turn out to be fine, then reinstall windows.

If the machine is overheating, then update the BIOS which might help.
