Laptop dell studio 1555 won't turn on

My laptop won't turn on. I was using it perfectly fine last night but when I got up today, it wouldn't boot. I left it on without shutting it down with the ac adapter on it. I tried to take off the battery pack and just plug in the adapter but it's not being recognized my my laptop and the light that indicates its connected isn't lighting up. This happened before and I just used that trick and it always worked. What can I do? It's 3 years old and I really wanna keep using it more. Can I save it?

Re: Laptop dell studio 1555 won't turn on

Hi leandv,

Try releasing the residual charge from the system. Here are the steps:

  • Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer including the battery and AC Adapter.
  • Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and the adapter. Try to restart the computer and check.

If the issue still persists, connect the AC Adapter to the wall socket and check if there is light coming on the AC Adapter. If not the AC Adapter has failed and needs replacement. If yes, connect it to the system and check if the light still remains on or it turns off. If it turns off then it can be an issue with the AC Adapter or with the motherboard. If available, try using a good known alternate AC Adapter to test the functionality.

Please reply with the information, I'll be happy to assist further.

Thanks & Regards

Re: Laptop dell studio 1555 won't turn on

I released the residual charge and nothing happened. The ac adapter is working fine. The USB items can function with just the ac adapter plugged in with no battery pack. The little strip of white light that comes on to indicate that the ac adapter and the computer are connected is not functioning.Well that and the fact that I can't turn my laptop on.

Re: Laptop dell studio 1555 won't turn on

Okay thank you. But I have a disc in there that I need to take out, is there anyway I can get it out? Because the only way I know how to eject it is to click eject on the home screen and obviously that's not possible anymore...

Re: Laptop dell studio 1555 won't turn on

Hi leandv,

Dell Studio 1555 comes with a slot load optical drive. As the eject key is not working and you are not able to boot to Windows to eject the CD from there, the only option left it remove the optical drive from the system and remove the CD. You may refer to the Service Manual of this system for instructions on removing the hardware components. Please follow the safety guidelines. If you are not comfortable doing it, I suggest that you contact a local technician to help you out.

Please reply if you have any questions.

Thanks & Regards
