Run the Dell diagnostics - F12 at powerup.  If the fan doesn't run, you need a hardware repair.  If it tests OK, then you likely have a Windows problem with the power management driver.

Hi Nilanjana

Welcome to the Dell community.

As your laptop is getting over heated, I would recommend you to use it on a table and not on your lap. This could be an issue with system fan (hardware) or can be resolved by flashing the BIOS. But before flashing the BIOS please make sure that the battery is charged more than 10 %

Follow the following steps:

• Run the hardware test by using a combination of Fn key and power button or go into the F12 menu on dell logo screen and check for error codes(if any)

• If the test passes, then boot the system and flash the BIOS using the following link:

• Clean the air vents gently

      Please revert back with observations
