Re: Laptop fan

Hi archipavan,

Thank you for all the trouble shooting steps. I recommend you to clean the air vents using a can of compressed air and make sure the system is always placed on a flat surface where there is good air circulation.

In case there is sound even after this and since you have already flashed BIOS to the latest version, I suggest you to run the test on the Fan. Restart the system and at the Dell logo keep taping the F12 key every 2 seconds. This will start the One-time boot menu. Using arrow keys select ‘Diagnostics’ and hit enter. This will run quick test without waiting for your input. Wait till the test completes and check for any error messages. Next a list of test available will be displayed. Please select Fan and click Run test. Please reply with the status of the test to assist you further.

Re: Laptop fan

Normally I'd agree with this tip Sujatha K...

"I recommend you to clean the air vents using a can of compressed air..." but in the OP's post he says he's only had the laptop for one week.

It's extremely unlikely that the vents could be blocked with dust in that short period of time.

One also needs to be very careful using canned air on electronic devices, as some of them use harmful propellents which can affect the electronics after repeated usage.  It's safer to use a photographic bulb-type blower like this:
