Laptop hard drive question...

I've got a Dell Latitude D530, and it's been a good laptop.  It's running Windows 10.

I was just given a Dell Latitude E5500 (with an Intel Core i5 processor), but the hard drive was removed.

Can I take the hard drive out of my D530 and install it into the E5500?

Any advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.

The drives will interchange, BUT:

The caddy from the D530 won't fit the E5500 - you must have an E5500 caddy and

You will need to reformat the drive and reload the operating system once you've transferred the drive.

Given the age of the D530's drive and the low cost of new drives, you'd be better off buying a new drive.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us!

If the firmware is the same then its a possibility however we will not suggest the same as there could be issues. If you would have to do that you will have to do as your own risk.

Thanks

Robin

Thanks.  That's what I'll end up doing.
