Latitude D505 Windows 7 Compatible?

I bought this laptop used, with a fresh install of Windows XP.  It's an old laptop, is it compatible with Windows 7?

Hi golf_kilo,

This system is not tested on windows 7 but however you can try installing applications in compatibility mode http://dell.to/1cZUmD1

Thanks for responding, I think I'm gonna go ahead with XP.  However, it s a fresh install, and I'm at the login screen, the only account is "Administrator" with a password that I don't know.  Is the password the product key?

The video card is not compatible with Windows 7. You can install Windows 7 32 Bit but will have blurry video at the best. You will also need 1 GB of RAM or more:

Personally I don't think this system is worth upgrading due to the poor hardware and the price of a Windows 7 license. You would be better looking for a second hand Dx20 or Dx30 series or any E series which might have Windows Vista or 7 already loaded on it.

XP is at end of life and should likewise be avoided.
