Latitude D830, may be impossible but will it accept a T9500 and then read pc2-6400 memory and an SSD

Jump to solution

Hi, I might be asking the impossible. I've got an E6400 that got crushed and an almost unused D830. I want to cannibalize the E6400 and install it in 1.8 MHz 512 MB D830. I've zeroed the SSD, checked the processor and RAM and was wondering if it is possible to use a 1066 MHz FSB processor in an 800 FSB system,if it would recognize the 800 MHz memory and if there is a BIOS modification to allow the SSD to work to it's potential?

M4700 256 GB Crucial M4 SSD, i7-3820QM, 8 GB 1866 Ghz RAM, Quadro K2000M etc...

XPS 430 GB 250 GB Crucial SSD, Q9550s, 16 GB 1333 Ghz RAM, GeForce GTX 650

M4400s , 128 GB Crucial SSDs, T9900s, 4 and 8 GB 800 Ghz RAM, FX 1700Ms, 8 of them

A T9500 processor will work.  I have one in my D830.  In fact, it came in my original D830 from Dell.  I'm surprised they came in E6400s, though.  The ram won't work, I believe.  SSD will work, but only 3Gps, not 6Gps from what I've read.

Thanks, already transferred the parts, RAM works at the slower speed and had to futz with the BIOS number to get the T9550 to work at full speed

Ah, yeah.  A T9550 is a different family of processor than the T9500.  The T9500 is the top peryn processor that works in a D830, aside from the expensive and rare X9000.
