Latitude E4310 Cloning Not Functional
Hi everyone,
I have two Dell Latitude E4310's that will not clone the display. I currently have the laptop sitting on the docking station, connected with an external monitor and am unable to clone the LCD screen to the external LCD. Has anyone come across this issue before? Or have any suggestions? Dell informed me that it has the capability but never 'fixed' the issue instead blaming the image we were using; however, this occurs pre-boot as well as in windows. I am also using an 1908FP Dell monitor. Troubleshooting I have done so far on both machines (note I have one that does clone but there's no explanation as to why as it worked from the get go):
The FN+F8 key switches between the LCD and external monitor with no problems (unable to clone though).
I've attempted to use both DVI and VGA connections with no success.
I've attempted to use the VGA connection on the laptop itself, no success.
Updated BIOS to latest version A06 (on one, still A05 on the other *out of the box new*)
I've installed the latest drivers from the Dell website indicated by the serial numbers.
Checked the BIOS to see if there were any special settings. The BIOS only has options for brightness/contrast and the ALS (Ambient Light Sensor). Nothing in regards to which to use as a default (I'm not very happy with this BIOS program, it's almost useless).
All of our machines were new in the box when we received them. Out of the three I've setup so far, only one has worked with cloning and we use the same image on all of the machines so there is no difference in anything software wise.
While on the screen note, the one that DOES clone, will not clone pre-windows boot. We have a full drive encryption program that loads before windows (Data Armor). User has to do a FN+F8 to clone the screen (very inconvenient as it's in a dock) to get it to push to the external monitor. This happens, regardless of the Data Armor software or not.
Any suggestions? I'm hoping my company just didn't waste their money on machines that will not work as advertised. Any help would be appreciated.

I am in the process of installing the Vista OEM disk that came with the machine so that I can respond to Dell that it's not my image (because they believe it's that), which makes no sense if this is happening in a fresh out the box, no image machine, pre-boot everything. My D630/620's can clone out the box without issue.

I stand corrected and chagrined as I just installed the video driver on the Dell Vista DVD image and it works cloning in WINDOWS only, apparently my incompetency.
However, this cloning still only takes place in Windows. I can not clone in the pre-windows boot environment. Is this a limitation of the laptop? I've tried FN+F8 with no clone ability, it took the driver in windows in order to clone it. That doesn't make any sense, since you can clone in previous models of the latitude series and also still a show stopper for me as the Data Armor encryption is pre-boot windows before the driver loads for it.
Any suggestions on that front?
