M1730 - Notebook Manager Software on WinXP x64

Hello,

Just got my XPS M1730 and got XP64 running on it. All hardware is working, got drivers for the LOT.

The only thing I'm missing is functionality of the sleep and battery buttons on the keyboard. I assume this comes with the Dell Notebook Manager software?

Whenever I attempt to install it, it claims it's installed it fine, but I see no shortcuts appear on my desktop or start menu, and can't find it in Program Files (x86) or Program Files either. All that happened is a padlock "Lock Status" icon appeared in my system tray.

Hi

You need to find Dell Quickset for XP 64-bit to get the functionality working.

Re: M1730 - Notebook Manager Software on WinXP x64

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply 🙂 The link you gave me appears to be the same package I had already tried. It runs fine, claims it's installed, asks me to restart (I say yes)... but nothing changed. No entries for Dell in Program Files or Program Files (x86), no new Start Menu shortcuts, and the buttons don't function.

Hi Chris,

Found QuickSet for XP64. Working fantastic 🙂 Reprogrammed the media button to turn off the LCD to save some battery. Some wicked cool effects can be done with the coloured LED's :O:O

Thank you very much for your help 🙂
