M4700 Power Schemes Corrupted and DellCommandPowerManager won't install

Hi,

I have had a Precision M4700 laptop since new and it's upgraded all the way from Windows 7 Pro OEM (with original Dell power schemes e.g. Ultra Performance) without an issue, but since the last batch of updates I've had all kinds of issues with the power management.

Including USB ports randomly powering down and up again. Like right now, both wired and wireless USB mouses have gone to sleep despite the active power scheme being Ultra Performance.

I can't even edit the profiles because all of them are now stuck in the usual cant-be-edited-or-repaired mode.

So I downloaded this:

<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Which APPARENTLY is compatible with the M4700, but when I attempt the setup it tells me that this is an unsupported device.

Does Dell have any tools that can completely blow away and recreate the out-of-the-box power schemes on an M4700 that had the factory provided Win7 x64 OS on it, but is now running Windows 10?

TimStaddon,

Unfortunately, Dell does not have any power schemes. Since the updates for Windows 10 try reinstalling the chipset drivers as well as the video card drivers in the system.

already have done that. The problem is, the built-in power schemes seem to have changed so that they disable the USB ports whenever the screen goes to sleep and NONE of the settings can be changed - the message is always "Your Power plan information isn't available: access denied".

PowerCfg -RestoreDefaultSchemes also fails.

"Unfortunately, Dell does not have any power schemes." Sorry, this is untrue. We have dozens of Dell laptops ALL of which have shipped with Windows 7 Pro OEM and they ALL have Dell power schemes.

Dell Command: Update (v2.3.0) has installed fine on this M4700 and has just identified four updates - display, ControlVault, Intel Management Engine. If I use Dell Command: Power Manager (which claims to have the exact same compatibility), the install fails saying the update doesn't apply to M4700.

Here's the output from Command Update:

For the record, the Dell power schemes are created by the Dell Feature Enhancement Pack which is a tool provided during the initial OOTB setup, and which hasn't been updated since Windows 10 shipped. I just confirmed that today.
