M6400 Drivers Resource CD for Windows 7

My Dell Drivers and Utilities CD for my M6400 only contains XP and Vista drivers.   Nothing Windows 7 specific.  (P/N P811F Rev. A01 September 2008)

I downloaded the Precision M6400 Windows 7 Driver CAB from the Enterprise Client site:

http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/precision-m6400-windows-7-driver-cab.aspx

I would prefer to use the very nice interface from the Drivers and Utilities CD instead of manually extracting the drivers and installing them one at a time from the CAB.

Does anybody know if there is an M6400 Drivers and Utilities CD for Windows 7 (64 bit) available?  If so, where can I download the ISO?  Do I need to order one from Dell?  Or am I going to have to do it manually from the CAB?

Thanks,

-Spanky.

Hi Devin,

You will have to install the drivers one by one.

As a follow up question, is it possible to "point" the Resource CD application to the CAB file I downloaded?

Hello Harish.

Thank you for your response, the video is very well put together.  However the instructions are only useful if you are set up and using MS Configuration Manager and Task Scheduler in an Enterprise network environment -which I am not.

This is a single M6400 laptop setup with a clean installation of Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I can manually download and install the drivers one at a time, but this is a very time consuming task that requires the laptop to have a functioning network connection -which is difficult to do without a driver for the network card.

My M6400 Dell Resource CD contains drivers for multiple Operating Systems (in both 32 and 64 bit), but the most "modern" Windows OS it supports is Windows Vista.  There are no drivers on the CD for Windows 7.

I was hoping to find a ISO on Dell's site for a more up to date Resource CD for the M6400, but it does not seem to exist.

Do you know if such a CD exists?

Thanks,

-Devin.
