M6500 1600mhz memory 2 x 4GB freeze booting
just replaced old 2 gb modules into 2 4gb 1600 Mhz modules
If I check the specs sheet from the M6500 on the Dell site
Memory connector four SODIMM connectors
NOTE: Computers shipped with Intel Core i5-520M/540M or
Intel Core i7-620 M support only two memory connectors.
Memory capacity 1GB, 2 GB, 4 GB, and 8GB capable
Memory type DDR3, 1067 MHz/1333MHz/1600 MHz
NOTE: DDR3 1600 MHz memory configurations are currently
limited to 8 GB
this should work. But if I start the laptop, I see the big Dell logo and it says checking memory and than hangs.
Do I need to adjust something in the Bios? Anyone have any idea?

Hi - Great to find this thread, as I have exactly the same problem.
I also have the M6500 with the i5 processor, and I am running the version A10 version of the BIOS.
All data I have seen says that the 2 x 4gb 1600 Mhz modules should simply operate at the lower speed. However, the system gets stuck at the BIOS memory test, and never progresses. I have not found a way to get past this. I'm wondering if there is something preventing the BIOS from recognizing the high speed RAM at all - so it is like it has no RAM at all (?).
I did find another forum noting that the cap on higher speed memory appears to be 8 GB, but it is not clear if someone actually got it to work on the i5 version of the M6500.
If you hear any other options to resolve this, please make sure to post!
thanks!

have now 1333 Mhz sodimm 204 pin memory but these ones are not working neither. So had people mentioning that 1600 mhz is not working but 1333 mhz should work .
the 2 gig memory dimms are working ok, but excact the same challenge with 1333 mhz memory :-(
