Major graphics issue after clean install [Inspiron 15 5565]

Hi all,

After installing an SSD into my Inspiron 5565, a clean install of Windows 10 64-bit was performed. This seems to have caused some unpredictable issues when it comes to the graphics drivers (machine is AMD with R5 and R8 onboard according to device manager).

Some of the issues I've been having include:

- Device crashing while watching YouTube (resulting in hardware check then the computer booting okay)

- Device shutting down and restarting a few seconds after logging on (this seems to be a continuous loop)

- Sometimes the R5 and R8 will show as having errors in device manager, sometimes they won't

The computer seems to work fine when booted to safe mode, leading me to believe the issue is centered around the graphics drivers. I tried downloading the drivers from Dell for my system, when I ran the installer in normal boot mode it seemed to say it worked okay - however the issue persisted. Then when booting into safe mode I ran the installer and it said it they detector was not able to run, but then a pop up came up anyway saying the installation was successful.

Any help would be very much appreciated! :)

Hi michael_d74,

Thanks for posting.

Hopefully you re-installed the drivers in the correct order.  Here is some information you may find helpful:  http://dell.to/2xCOhPP

Hi there Robert,

Thanks for the reply, I did download the graphics drivers from that first link you sent, and the second link you've posted appears to be broken? Note that when I run the installer from the Dell website, I get a message saying "C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\atiadlxx.dll is is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error" followed by "C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\coinst_17.10.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error".

Upon browsing to the atiadlxx.dll I notice it is completely empty but filled with whitespaces so the size is 1,481KB, it's the same for coinst_17.10.dll. Also as a side note the battery life is appalling - 55mins with 80% remaining (with only file explorer open); I don't know if this is due to not having the drivers installed or what but it seems very short to me.

When you said you did a clean install of Windows 10, did you use a disk you purchased? or did you use the backup disk you created from the OS already installed on your computer?

I used a Windows 10 install USB I created off my desktop - download was from the Microsoft website.
