Memory write/read failure: Dell Inspiron 1440

I was working on my computer when it suddenly turned off on me. When I turned it back on the computer made this continuous beeping noise and I got a message that read:

Memory write/read failure at 3802C200, read 02ED0200 expecting 02ED02ED. To resolve this issue, try to reset the memory. Decreasing available memory.

I ran Dell Diagnostics (F12 at power up) and it freezes when it gets to:

** Memory - Data Bus Stress Test ** Testing 00_00400000h - 00DDCBEFFFh (3544 MB) with 2 CPU(s)

Memory Test Activity CPU 0 @ Address 00_40000000  CPU 1 @ Address 00_AC000000

I'm not a very computer minded person, and I'm not sure what to do to fix the problem.

Try reseating (remove and reinstall) both memory modules. Re-test with the diagnostics.   If a module fails again, see if the test identifies which one (it should).  Then swap the two modules in their sockets - if the error follows the module, replace that module with a new one.  if by chance the error occurs with the other module in the same socket that produced the initial failure, it's the socket that's bad - replace the system board.

The memory modules are located as shown here:
