Monitor goes dim within about 10 seconds - Latitude D520
The monitor only stays lit for about 10 seconds then goes dim. I have to attach an external monitor to see. I know that the battery is shot, but I'm plugged in. Any recommended solutions to be able to keep the monitor on. I've gone to Power Options and all seems to be fine there. ~thanks!

Yes - the probability is still very high it's one of those two components. Much less probable is that it's a mainboard problem - which would cost several times what the backlight or inverter will cost to repair, and would probably mean replacing the system.

The backlight or inverter needs repair -cost should run about $100-150. You'll need a shop that specializes in LCD repairs.

Thanks! The backlight still comes on every time I boot up, but just for 10 seconds. Still backlight or inverter problem?
