Mouse / keyboard problems with latest USB drivers on TB16 and 5510 laptop

Hi there

I upgraded my drivers on 5510 with TB16 yesterday and now mouse is very jerky and keyboard misses keystrokes or sends repeated ones if they are plugged into the TB16. Is there a problem with the latest ASMedia USB drivers? They both work fine if on 5510 USB

Operating system is Windows 10 Creators Update Enterprise Edition.

All other drivers are also up to date, and a clean re-install of Windows didn't fix it.

The BIOS for 5510 had an update over night and this has fixed the keyboard and mouse issues finally - so it was definitely BIOS as people had suggested.

I still have some TPM issues with Bitlocker (requires recovery codes every boot) but not sure if that's updates, me altering BIOS settings or something else.

BTW If anybody is checking this thread for the TPM / Bitlocker issue (having to put Bitlocker in every boot, unless you suspend before reboot) then this is fixed in the latest BIOS. I did lose USB / Ethernet on dock though and uninstalled the Intel Thunderbolt driver in preparation for a new one, Windows Update pulled down a default one and these worked again. Joy of it all!

Having the same issue.  Just updated today on my 9550 and it's been quite irritating.

Did you find a solution for this? We are in the same boat.

I'm seeing the same thing on my 9550. Even tried going back to an older version of the ASMedia drivers. What's odd, is I'm having the problem even if I plug my USB hub directly into the laptop.

It's made the laptop unusable.

We are seeing it on 7280s but this is def a TB16 dock issue. Same exact issue.

Same here on 9350. I thought the Aug. 8 update fixed it but same erratic behavior with mouse and keyboard or anything USB connected to dock.

XPS 13 9350 with TB16.

After updating Thunderbolt and USB, my TB16 USB, Network and Audio is dead. Only Display works.

In device manager i see constant refresh of device list. Booting the device is very slow, my XPS 13 waiting for a very long time on BIOS Screen until it starts booting. Windows itself stays a very long time on the spinning wheel until i am on my desktop.

The USB on WD15/TB16 docks problem was introduced with recent BIOS updates, seemingly across XPS 13, XPS 15 and Precision 55x0. Similar to the misbehaviour seen about a year ago.

Not a word from Dell yet!?

Some write that rolling back BIOS helps, others that it doesn't. Maybe depends on which former BIOS, because BIOS updates seem to contain some different components.

The ASMedia driver is related only to the TB16 afaik.

Recently also TB3 driver and firmware updates have shown up and there were some claims they solve the issue. This also likely relates to the TB dock only, not WD.

I'm having the same issue as well.  Composing any kind of email or document is incredibly difficult.  These missed keystrokes or keys repeating needs to be fixed ASAP.  I've tried rolling back drivers and that was unsuccessful.  I have not tried to rollback my BIOS, can anyone confirm if that works?

I just received my 7480 today and it came with BIOS v. 1.5.2 (and the buggy USB) Downgrading to 1.4.6 seems to have fixed it (finally!).

Same issue here, XPS 15 9550 + TB16. The BIOS upgrade to 1.2.29 was the culprit. Downgrading the BIOS to 1.2.25 solved all my problems. So this is not a problem with the dock, but with (testing of) the BIOS releases.

Downgrading from 1.2.29 -> 1.2.25 fixed my problems completely. I wish Dell would test things better.

I have a 5510. After the latest BIOS updates my USB audio DAC and keyboard connected through the TB16 had problems. Audio was crackly/popping and keyboard was getting stuck with repeated keys during typing. Most annoying..

Downgrade fixed everything, procedure was painless when I was able to find the download link.

7480 with TB16. Upgraded BIOS to 1.5.2 and choppy mouse/ stuck keyboard syndromes like crazy when the mouse and keyboard where connected to TB16's via USB2. It sort of phased in and out with several seconds being ridiculously unusable and then 10--20 seconds of more normal operation.

Downgrading the BIOS back to 1.4.6 and all is back to normal. It seems clearly to be a BIOS issue. Make sure to enable "allow BIOS downgrade before going back to 1.4.6.

Can you point me to where I can find the older BIOSes? From the volume of people answering that it is a BIOS issue then it sounds like there are definitely issues!
