My laptop's Wi-Fi connection shows connected, but I'm not able to access Internet through any application
I have a Dell Inspiron B130 with XP personal OS.
I can turn on and off my WiFi connection with Ctrl + F2, but I cannot get any application to connect to the internet. Even when I try to send a Microsoft error message (for Microsoft work 8) it reports no internet connection.
I can plug into the router with dsl line and then I can brows the internet easily. the wifi connection shows to be good (4 green bars). The Dell Wireless WLAN Card utility shows reception of several different networks. All other computers in home are using home wifi easily.
I have tried basic steps suggested in general listing of troubleshooting
BIOS shows recognition of mini card. Disabling all but needed start up programs did not fix it.
Is this a hardware problem? It may have all stopped working (all access to internet through wifi connection) one day after the laptop fell to the floor.
I did try posting this in the internet section of this webite but after 50+ readings I did not get a single response.
Thank you ahead for any suggestions or education helping me fix this problem.

Hi,
You may try disabling the Dell wireless utility to manage the wireless connection to check if that helps.
Open the "Dell WLAN Utility", Untick the option "Let this tool manage my wireless".
Once that's done, At the bottom right corner of the screen, Right click on the wireless icon, view wireless network and try connecting to the network that way.
See if that helps.
Thanks

Thank you for your response. I fond the solution on another site. i'm not sure if your solution does something similar but as I had hoped, it was very easy.
I went to device manager and uninstall the WLAN adapter. Upon restart it had to automatically reinstall the adapter...it worked just fine after that.
