Non-Existant Aero Theme

I had to reinstall my Windows Vista Operating System as I was infected with an invasive program that very well compromised my system.  All my data files are intact and unharmed.  However, after rinstalling the system and intalling all the updates I cannot find the Windows Aero Theme and can't figure out how to re-establish it.  It is not in the display options.  I am using a Lattitude D630.  If anyone can help I would appreciate it as some programs now seem to crash my system that were installed previously.

Thank you.

Welcome to the forums emoticon.Yes.title

Turning on Windows Aero:

1) Click on the Windows logo at the lower left corner

2) Select Control Panel, and then select Personalization

3) Click on “Window Color and Appearance

4) If you then see a row of 8 colors, you need to click on the last link, “Open classic appearance properties for more color options

5) In the “Appearance Settings” window (under “Color Scheme”), select “Windows Aero

6) Click on “OK”

7) Windows will then update the display properties of, well, everything.
