O.S.

I own several Dell products for myself and family.  Usually they are running fine, but one child recently crashed my XPS M1750 laptop.  Since I will have to start from scratch, I was wondering how I can install windows 7 or 8 instead  of XP. I do professional photography and it's easier for me to transfer and edit photos between my tablet, laptop and all in one. Any thoughts?

Since your system is crashed anyway, I would simply start by installing Windows 7 as a trial, to make sure it runs ok.

You can download a Windows 7 image from here - you will have 30 days to use it before it needs to be activated:

If you decide to buy it, then you can and simply enter the product key you get when you purchase Windows 7 to activate it.
