OS is now on D partition and will not boot to windows
I am recovering a Dell mini 1012v for a friend. They are donating it and want all their information removed. The recovery console was not
available so I used a windows7 dvd. Now the OS is on the D partition and the backup is on the C partition and I can't get it to boot into window
I've researched and nothing helps. I tried renaming the c and d partitions but it didn't work. Can anyone help?

Boot the WIndows 7 disc, delete both partitions, and create just one partition. Be sure no other USB devices are connected to the system and that there are no memory cards in the card reader. On the first boot after installing Windows, disconnect the CD/DVD drive from the system and boot ONLY from the hard drive. That will ensure the OS is installed to c:.

Once the OS is installed, you cannot change the boot drive letter -- you would need to start the installation of Windows from scratch.

I've reinstalled Windows three times now, it keeps putting the OS on the d partition.
