Old power adapter does not work for new laptop
Hi,
I bought a new Inspiron 17 5000, which comes with 65 W power adapter. Good. Now I want to use my old laptop power adaptor(I have many) when I move from place to place. I got small hardware connector connection from old adapter to new laptop. The indication shows it is charging as expected. But actually it is not charging. I do not think that is the problem of my small hardware adapter.
Is there anything I can do to make old adapter work for new laptop?
Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This is not supported. Any damage done to the Inspiron 17-5000 by using non-validated power adapters will not be covered. You should only be using the validated power adapter that are for this specific model. Check the part number on the Dell supplied power adapter and buy another one.
