PLEASE HELP: Studio 15 Screen Black out, Dell Dock crash, and crummy Customer Support
Starting yesterday, early in the morning,;my laptop's screen would go black and the system would not respond for a few minutes...much like many other people with the same problem.
I searched the forum desperately to find a solution; I have no money to repair or replace this with. This Laptop is my life.
I contacted live chat with an agent, and he remotely controlled my laptop to install a series of things...and then suddenly after several reboots I was no longer able to contact him, it said the chat had expired...
I figured, maybe, the problem was solved. But that afternoon it happened again and I, upset, go again to live chat. This time I am met with another agent who I explain my situation with. From the very start it was like this person was having an attitude with me. They refused to help me because I was not the person who purchased this machine from Dell itself, I bought it off someone else and I do not have any of their information. They pressured me about the fact that it's not my name on records... so I started to cry. He threw 4 links at me, none of which worked by the way at all, and then urged me to leave chat.
I went into the Dell drivers area and downloaded everything available that appeared to be new.
No dice.
I am still experiencing the same problem...also, now my Dell Dock refuses to work; crashing and refusing to let me uninstall.
I really hope there is a solution to this, as I play online games and this is unacceptable.

I bought this from a seller on Ebay who mass sells these... there is no way I can get their information. . . it shows me as the owner under my account despite me never having done anything. So why is it they told me that my name is not on their records?
I do not have an external monitor... I do not have the money for such things....

Step 1: If the system has a warranty remaining, CONTACT the registered owner and have them TRANSFER the ownership into your name. Without that step, if you need a hardware repair, the warranty will not cover you.
Step 2: When the internal screen goes black, does an external monitor do the same? If so, you likely have a video problem. If not, you likely have a dying backlight or inverter/converter. If you're in warranty, have Dell replace the screen. If you're out of warranty, contact an LCD repair shop and have the repair done - it'll cost 1/3-1/2 of what a replacement screen would.
