Poor screen brightness and no controls

Hi

Ive a Latitude D530 that has just had a new keyboard / mouse installed by Dell to fix a warantee issue and Im now finding that screen brightness controls are not working (both using hte Fn key and in the control panel) and the screen is really dim. i can hardly read this.=

Ive updated the video and bios drivers from the Dell site by putting in my service tag but this hasnt helped.  Can anyone suggest anything that might help?

Thanks

Phil

This sounds like an inverter or backlight failure - however since it happened right after someone had your control button cover and keyboard off I would first check to see that they did not pinch the inverter or backlight cables when they put things back together.  Here's a link to your model's service manual if you want to have a look at the wires yourself (it's fairly easy to take apart)

If the cables are fine then you likely need either a new inverter (easier) or a new backlight (cheaper but far more difficult).

Good Luck
