My Precision 3510 will not sleep or hibernate regardless of how I attempt it. If I click start, power, sleep, it just powers off. I've set the Lid Close mode to sleep when on battery and it just powers off. I've set it to go to sleep after 20 minutes when on batter, and it just powers off. I've looked at the BIOs and sleep mode, or whatever it's called, is enabled. I've run throught the FN diagnostics and they show no issues. This is running Windows 10 that is fully up to date on patches, and the firmware/BIOS on the laptop is completely up to date.
How do I get this thing to sleep?
When did the issue start? Were there any bluescreens / system crashes? Does hibernation / shutdown and restart work fine? Does this happen with or without the adapter connected? Did the issue start after any recent updates?
If the system was working fine earlier, then perform a system restore to restore the machine to an earlier point where it was working fine - http://dell.to/13DMibD
Restart the system and check in safe mode - http://dell.to/2cfyERf
Create a new local admin account and check - http://bit.ly/1JoFhcw
Manually reinstall the chipset drivers and check - http://dell.to/2cfyERf
If the issue is still not resolved, uninstall the video driver - restart the system and check if it works. If yes, then reinstall the video driver from the vendor site - Intel.com or AMD.com as required. If you are unable to find the drivers from the vendor site, then send me a screenshot of the device manager with display adapters expanded and I shall provide the driver links required.
