Printer problems with an Inspiron 1501

Ok, I have windows XP, an Inspiron 1501 laptop, and an HP deskjet F2210 printer/scanner/copier.
When i first plugged in the printer, installed the program for it and everything, it worked fine. But today, whenever i have the printer plugged in, I get a blue screen and have to restart my computer.  Is this from some bug from the printer, or the laptop? or do i need to have the HP program running on my laptop before i plug in the printer, or turn it on?

What does the " Blue Screen Error " say?

This is probably a driver problem crashing Windows. Post the error blue screen text.

The blue screen says:
A problem has been detected, windows has been shut down.

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and then the usual stuff about if this is the first error i've gotten, etc.

I sent an email to HP about this, and they said:

"This issue generally occurs because the computer BIOS (Basic Input Output Software) can boot from external USB mass storage devices and tries to boot from the all-in-one photo card reader, which can be used as a USB mass storage device.  However, I request you to follow the steps given below to check this issue."

Following their instructions, i tried this..

"Changing the BIOS on a Dell portable computer:

Follow the steps below to turn off the ability to boot from USB devices

but still support a USB keyboard while starting.  Contact Dell for

assistance if necessary.

1.  Shut down the portable computer.

2.  Unplug all USB devices including USB keyboards.

3.  Start the laptop.  When the Dell logo appears, press the F2 key to

enter the System Setup (BIOS) program.  If the Windows screen

appears, wait for the computer to finish starting up, shut it down,

    and then try again.

4.  Press and hold the ALT key while tapping the P key until a screen

appears that includes the words "USB Emulation".

5.  Press the Down Arrow key to highlight "USB Emulation".

6.  Press the Right Arrow key until the "Disabled" option appears.

7.  Press the Esc key once to go to the Exit menu.

8.  Plug the USB devices back in.

9.  Ensure that "Save Changes and Exit" is highlighted, and press the

    Enter key. "

At step 4, however, holding ALT and tapping P has not brought up a screen about "USB Emulation".
