Problem with Inspiron 1545

I ran the backup and recovery for the laptop and it said it succeeded. When windows goes to start, a blue screen flashes quickly and it just reboots again. When I run a diagnostics it gives me error code 2000-0146 with the hard drive. It wont let me start in safe mode or anything. Does this mean that the hard drive is just done?

RE: Problem with Inspiron 1545

Hi REPKO23,

The 0146 refers to Hard Drive error.

You would need to replace the HDD. If you have any imp data, you could get an external caddy, connect this drive to another working machine and recover any data. Alternatively, use Linux without install environment and recover any possible data.

You could contact our team to get a quote for a HDD here - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

I would personally suggest you to install an SSD if possible. Compatible SSD's for your system from Crucial - http://bit.ly/2jKZJT4

Download the OS image if available here - http://dell.to/1JsMeJg

Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.

Let us know if you have any other queries.

RE: Problem with Inspiron 1545

If you get one of the thin SSDs it will take some manipulation to get the connectors to line up.
