Processor Upgrade for Inspiron 1520

Hi, I'm a newbie here and any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.  I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop which is circa 2007 vintage.  It has a Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5GHz processor.  I would like to try and upgrade the processor and am unsure what processors would be compatible with the existing motherboard on my laptop, how can I find this out?  Is it a question of looking through the specs and finding one that has the same socket, voltage etc etc or is it simpler than that?

Also, any guidance on the way to change a processor over would be appreciated, I have built and maintained desktops before, but never a laptop.

Thanks,

hi

yes you are right, firstly and most importantly socket..you need a merom CPU with socket P, not M!

according to this:

en.wikipedia.org/.../List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors

the maximum upgrade you can get is T7800, T7700. Just double check. If I was you I would probably buy it on Ebay.

Please note that this an Ebay auction and it IS NOT mine, just to make things clear.I hope it helps.

You need a Core 2 on the 667 or 800 MHz bus - no 1066, no Core i.

It's a socket P system.
