Re: QuickSet And Dell Audio by Realtek (Waves Maxx Audio) Fix

djg13,

When you installed the operating system, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Start with the Dell System Software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.

Did you download and insstall the Realtek drivers from Dell's website

RE: QuickSet And Dell Audio by Realtek (Waves Maxx Audio) Fix

Hi I also have a very similar system setup and a similar problem after a rebuild.

Dell XPS 17+3D L702x - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit,  2nd Generation Intel Core i7-2860QM processor
NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M - 12
GB Ram.

Completely rebuilt the machine as it was running slowly due to malware, runs brilliantly fast now, but I cannot get the Dell Realtek driver to work properly. The equaliser, Maxx Audio selections do not work. I use the machine for audio recording and the driver issue means that I also do not get a line-in record option on Adobe Audition CS5.5

Your help/assistance will be gratefully received.

Thanks

Kappa

RE: QuickSet And Dell Audio by Realtek (Waves Maxx Audio) Fix

I see some people are still having some issues with this, so I want to post this possible fix.

It worked for me, I have an XPS 15 L502X.

The issue started for me when I reinstalled Windows and decided to install the latest version of Realtek Audio drivers, instead of the one from the Dell Support page. BAD DECISION on my part.

STEP 1: Download your respective RealTek Audio Driver from your product support page, find it by using your service tag to ensure you get the correct driver. Also download Dell Quickset Application for your specific service tag.

STEP 2: Uninstall Quickset Application if it is already installed. *IMPORTANT*

STEP 3: Run the Realtek Audio installer, and then allow it to UNINSTALL the driver you currently have installed (even if it's the same driver version). Allow the computer to REBOOT after the software uninstalls your current driver.

STEP 4: Once your computer is rebooted, the installer will open. STOP. Go to Start > and type regedit and press enter.

Under HKEY_CURRENT_USER go to Software > Realtek and delete "Audio" if present

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to SOFTWARE > REALTEK and delete "Audio" if present

Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE go to SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Realtek and delete "Audio" if present

EXIT Registry Editor and open My Computer

Go to C:\Program Files (X86)\Realtek and delete "Audio"

Go to C:\Program Files\Realtek and delete "Audio"

DO NOT delete RealTek, ONLY delete AUDIO inside of Realtek. You likely have registry entries for a Realtek network adapter and you do not want to delete those. Edit the registry at your own risk.

STEP 5: Close everything except for the installer, now click Next and install RealTek Audio Drivers. REBOOT when it asks you to.

STEP 6: After the computer has started back up, unpack Dell Quickset. If the installer doesnt start automatically go to C:/Dell/drivers/*** and run Setup.exe. Install the application and reboot your computer one last time if prompted.

IMPORTANT NOTES: MAKE SURE YOU REBOOT. Do not skip this step when it asks you, or this method will NOT work. Also, make sure you use the audio driver listed on your product support page, NOT the latest driver from realtek.com.tw, as it may cause issues with WavvesMaxx and its features.

Your Dell Audio with WavesMaxx should now work when you press the button on your laptop. You should be able to use the mixer and equalizers again. Hope it works for you!

RE: QuickSet And Dell Audio by Realtek (Waves Maxx Audio) Fix

Hi Rick,

I am wondering if I gain any audio benefit by upgrading to Waves Maxxaudio 4 on my XPS12...

Right now I see that the system features version 3.  Also, is this easy to do, and is there are website that can guide me through the process?

Thank you,

Brian

RE: QuickSet And Dell Audio by Realtek (Waves Maxx Audio) Fix

Brian,

I don't foresee any benefits from the newer version unless you have issues with the older version.

If you want to try them, make a system restore point before trying the new version. That way if any issues arrive, you can come back to what you are currently using.

RE: QuickSet And Dell Audio by Realtek (Waves Maxx Audio) Fix

Rick, thanks for replying. I love the sound I am getting with Waves 3, and it's not broken, so I won't go messing with it.

Nice of you to help out!!

Best,

Brian
