RAM Speed

I just upped the memory on my Inspiron 1520 laptop to 4 GB. I bought 667 MHz. Setup indicates 533 MHz.sudo lshw -short -C memory and dmidecode --type 17  | grep -i speed both indicate 667.  Why the difference between what setup reports and what the command line indicates?

Is there anything that needs to be tweaked?

RE: RAM Speed

What model CPU is installed?  The memory controller is aboard the CPU, and the CPU will control the bus speed.

RE: RAM Speed

CPU~Dual core Intel Pentium Dual T2370 (-MCP-)

Why is it setting the speed to 533 MHz if the specs call for 667 MHz for this laptop w/this CPU?

RE: RAM Speed

That system was sold with CPUs  that do support the 667 MHz bus, which is why the RAM spec is 667.

Your CPU is 533 MHz - and as noted before, the memory controller is aboard the CPU, not the mainboard -- which is why you're seeing 533 MHz.
