RAM upgrade options for Inspiron E1405 model
Hi,
I wanted to upgrade RAM on my Laptop Inspiron E1405 model, currently it has DC060 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, I wanted to upgrade to 4GB/8GB.
It is currently running windows XP, Could you someone point me to the possible Models of RAM suitable for this hardware.

Hi Prafulla,
I am afraid that Inspiron E1405 computer would not support more than 2 GB memory.

Hi Prafulla,
The maximum memory that can be installed in the system is 2 GB. The minimum memory configuration offered is 512 MB. Dell offers four different size memory modules that can be used in these slots: 256 MB, 512 MB, 1024 MB, and 2048 MB. These offerings allow memory configurations as follows:
*Indicates dual-channel interleaved (fastest) configuration
667MHz and 533MHz both are supported on Inspiron E1405.

My laptop model is Inspiron E1405, you had mentioned it as E1505. I believe both are almost same.
So do i need to upgrade to 2 1GB cards in 2 slots (or) 2 slots each 2GB possible? Could you provide me the quote & model numbers.

Thanks for your reply, Could you please let me know as i already have one 512KB memory is installed and can i add one 1GB card in empty slot, will it accept as 1.5GB RAM or i should remove 512KB completely and connect 2 1GB slots?
Also what is the frequency 667MHz or 533MHz is suitable for this hardware

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply, my service tag is: 2sbtm1s, extended tag is: 6066474976.
From the system configuration of dell website that below details are mentioned, I believe 533Module is installed on my PC.
Can i buy a new Two 1GB slot of 667MHZ for this system? (or) i should take it only the 533MHZ sticks?

Y55221DUAL IN-LINE MEMORY MODULE..., 512MB, 533, 64X64, 8K, 200
From your table, can i use one 1024GB & one 512MB as well?, will that not detoriate any accessing speeds?

Hi Prafulla,
You can either go for 667MHz or 533MHz, both are supported on this computer.
Also you can upgrade memory to 2x1GB on the computer or you can use 1GB on slot1 and 512 MB on slot 2.
I would recommend using either 2 sticks of 667MHz or 2 sticks of 533 MHz memory.
