Retrofit the backlit keyboard to a Studio 1535

Recently I got a Studio 1535 without the backlit keyboard. Is it possible to retrofit the backlit version? If so does anyone know what the part number for the UK Backlit Keyboard is? Does it come with instructions on how to swap them over.

Thanks in advance (Sorry about all the questions)

Regards

If it was an option list then you can.

I got my studio 1555 keyboard from dell it took 3 weeks to get it and dell fitted it at home for me yesterday total cost £43

Its a great feature.  I used to be a bakery manger 20 years ago but still wake up sometimes at 3am.  Now I dont need to have my bedside lamp on now

Michael I just got a Studio 1555 and it came without a backlit keyboard.  Do you have the correct part number for the UK keyboard?  If possibel the reps name who you bought it from.   Im having a hard job getting one from Dell as most of them do not want to help me.  I either get I cant help or you need to speak to someone else and i go back and forth.

If you could help out i would really appreciate it,  thanks for taking your time to read this.

Many Regards

Hi Gary

Sorry I have not answered your posting I have been unwell for a few weeks

The part number for the backlit keyboard is CPL-C572K description RoHS:Yes,KYBD,87,UK,ILSBII

and the fitting code for dell to fit it comes under 682-19799 1 Incident on site service upgrade in home consumer system

I don’t think you will be able just to order the keyboard on its own but it’s worth a try

It’s very easy to fit though 1 screw to undo in the battery compartment prise the keyboard surround out undo a few screws that hold the keyboard in remove ribbon cable.  For fitting the back lit keyboard refit all cables plus the extra power cable for the light put all screw back in and your done.  It took the service agent 6 minutes to do it.  You may get told the motherboard does not have the socket but it has!  Mine took 5 weeks to arrive but it’s worth it.

Kind regards

Michael

Reading  the post myself it looks confusing when I said they may not let you order just the keyboad on its own, means they may want to fit it,thats were the other part number comes in to play.

I found a uk keyboard on ebay , it was advertised with the part number you supplied (C572K) So I snapped it up, Hopefully its the correct keyboard as iy did not say it was backlit.  The picture showed the F6 Key had a symbol on it and my nonn backlit keyboard just has F6 on it.  Hopefully it will be backlit when it arrives.

Hello doughy,

Could you advise where/which seller in ebay did you buy this from?

Also, how much did it cost you?
