Screen flickering Dell Inspiron n5110

I just noticed this problem today. It's not very severe (yet), but when I move the screen to adjust the angle at which it's facing, I can see flickering occur. Is this due to the hardware? I highly dought that it could be a software issue or even a virus. Any ideas what on what could be causing this activity?

First thing to check would be the connections at the ends of the cable that runs between the mainboard and display panel.

Hi vedrankreator,

Welcome to the community.

The issue can occur either due to a loose connection between the LCD and the motherboard or it can be due to a software conflict as well. I would suggest you to run a test on the LCD and move the lid during the test to see if it occurs during the test as well.

Please perform the following steps to run a test on the LCD-

Press and hold down the D key and then press and release the Power button. Once done release the D key as well.

This will begin a test on the LCD. In case the issue does not occur during the test, it will mean it’s a software issue.

Let me know the findings. Glad to be of assistance.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried that but no result, the LCD check didn't come up. The laptop just turned off and when I would turn it back on, it would resume windows. During the turn off process the "Turn display off" key would light, the screen would be black for about 15 seconds and the it would turn off...

@ejn63

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to try that. Maybe there is a cable loose somewhere inside...

Hi vedrankreator,

Thank you for your reply. In case reseating the LCD cable does not fix the issue, the LCD would need to be replaced as the issue only occurs when the lid is moved.

Let me know in case there are any other concerns. Glad to be of assistance.

Thanks & Regards
